  1. Glad that not many people know

Posted by Xiao on Jul 4th 2019

My professor at UF Psychology recommended this book in his grant writing course. I've used it as a reference throughout my career in academia, and recommended it to friends and colleagues. They were all amazed at how helpful the book is. I donated my first copy to the lab when I left, then bought new copies and shared them along the way. I'm just glad that the book is not as popular as it deserves to be, otherwise a lot of labs would go out of business. ;)

  2. Concise advice with high yield direction

Posted by Unknown on May 17th 2019

I have found this manual extremely helpful in organizing my thoughts and providing direction for the entire application process. I am glad I purchased it.

  4. Useful tips for beginning grant writers

Posted by Unknown on Jan 17th 2019

I recently purchased this book to assist with my first NIH grant. It's been very helpful so far, providing many useful tips ranging from formatting suggestions to study conceptualization. They also include many common pitfalls that can be avoided.

  6. Excellent Guide

Posted by Michael Wetherholt on Sep 24th 2018

The NIH guide is excellent in taking you through the steps to an NIH proposal. To my knowledge my institution has never received an NIH award before. However, I have two faculty members very interested in pursuing NIH proposals. The NIH Workbook has been a blessing to guide us along the proper path to a competitive NIH proposal...

  7. Informative and instructive.

Posted by Lois Lee on Jul 26th 2018

A clear step-by-step guide to getting organized with grant writing while understanding the importance of the content in the different parts of the grant and the review process.

  8. Excellent guide for grant writing

Great guidebook for all levels of grant writers. Really helps to develop a highly competitive grant proposal.

  9. Repeat purchase

Posted by BenZ on Jun 19th 2018

Following the step-by-step instructions provided by the authors will give you an easy to read, clear proposal. Of course this does not guarantee an award but it does optimize the presentation of your ideas. Whenever I hand an NIH grant application into our grant office they are always amazed that they don't have to correct, reformat or otherwise polish my applications unlike all the others they have. That's not down to my dubious writing style but instead due to the clear instruction provided by the GWSW NIH handbook. One note of critique, handle your copy with care, the binding does not stand up well to the rigors of a backpack/briefcase over time. But hey, that gives me the chance to purchase the newest updated version as I am doing now.

  10. Indespensible

Posted by Unknown on Jun 6th 2018

I have used this product for more than 15 years. I buy the updates frequently and give them to my colleagues and my students as gifts. Even though I am now an experienced grant writer, when I am stuck on a grant section I go back to the handbook for help. Never fails. Helpful to have these suggestions when NIH changes the formats.
